Talk content authenticity, C2PA with Dana Felipe and Helge Svela at Content Defense Summit

Last week, the Content Authenticity Summit was held in NYC. Experts from around the world talked about C2PA, CAI, and other highly technical interventions involving watermarking, fingerprinting, metadata, provenance and verification. Some pretty exciting stuff.

If you’re in the media industry, whether you’re adding background to a VFX shot or trying to sell interrnational film rights, your content is as vulnerable to theft – not just theft, but outright destruction – as a penguin chick surrounded by skuas.

The geniuses who gathered at the Content Authenticity Summit are working at the cutting edge of the content arms race to help you prove the provenance, authenticity and ultimately value of your content, to make it harder for pirates and AI’s to run off with your creations and twist them to their own nefarious ends.

We’re in the midst of a sort of global Manhattan Project which is building defenses for human-made content businesses against robot-armed criminals (they don’t have actual robotic arms – that would be amazing – they armed with robots). The C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) project is just one effort being implemented to track content provenance. It uses embedded metadata that track every change a file has gone through from capture through to playout. Solutions like C2PA are already being embedded into tech platforms and being used by content companies as a way to ensure the validity of published content.

Our Content & IP Defense Summit, on June 24, will include a discussion panel on C2PA called “C2PA – it’s not a protocol droid, it’s an alliance for restoring freedom”. The session will give you an overview of how broadcasters and news organizations are implementing C2PA and what the future may hold for similar tech specifications.

We’re delighted to announce that Felipe Dana and Helge O. Svela will be joining us for the panel. Dana is a Pulitzer Prize-winning Brazilian photojournalist for the Associated Press, and Svela, a former head at Norwegian newspaper Bergens Tidende, is the CEO of Media Cluster Norway and a staunch C2PA advocate.

Don’t miss the opportunity to hear them talk with other experts in what is sure to be an enlightening half-hour on an essential tool in our content protection arsenal.

The Content & IP Defense Summit is an online conference of discussions and networking built around how the media sector can protect and keep control of its content and IP.
